Andre Venter Fund Raiser

The South African Rugby Legends Association in association with Andre Venter are hosting a dinner to raise funds for former rugby player, Arne Gouws on 6 June at the Kopano Nokeng Country Lodge, Bloemfontein.

Arne Gouws was injured in a car accident and is now confined to a wheelchair. Former Springbok flank, Andre Venter is hosting the dinner where money raised on the evening will go to Gouws to help him pay for his rehabilitation expenses.

Gouws was selected to play for the Sharks U19 team three days before his car accident last year. A promising flank whose first memory of rugby was the game played against Grey College where he scored a try in the corner. When asked who his hero in rugby is, he confidently says, "Andre Venter, he is a legend! I admire him a lot and I have the world's respect for him. He's an angel on earth."

Andre Venter who was a former flank for the Springbok team and regarded as one of the fittest and most dedicated men to wear the green and gold jersey has organised the evening's festivities before the much-anticipated Welsh test match. Guest speakers on the evening will be Venter himself with many other former Springboks and Welsh captains, Oregan Hoskins and VIP guests.

A clinic will be held during the day for 150 kids from the area where Ian McIntosh and John Allan will run the formalities. Grey College, well known for its rugby heritage, will be the venue where the kids will be trained by their sporting heroes. A game of tag rugby will end off the session allowing the kids to practice what they have been taught under the guidance of the Legends.

Tables for the evening are being organised by Danielle Crook from Sportsfan Eventing. To buy a table for this worthy cause, it will cost you R5,000 for a table of ten, or R500 per seat.
