Border Legends Launch - 6 October, 2007

A very successful Rugby Clinic was held on Saturday, 6 October at the Old Selbornian Rugby Fields.

Ian McIntosh was very excited about the attendance, but what really made this clinic special for him was the attitude of the coaches (ex Border Players / BRL Members). So, a BIG Thank You to all those that assisted.

The kids, ranging from 8 to 15 years old, were well-behaved, keen to learn and it was a pleasure working with them. We all hope that what was learned will be carried over to the rest of the players at the various schools. We will be following up at the start of next season.

Each kid got a T-shirt and clinic packs were given to the seven groups that attended.

These were: Alphandale School, Aspiranza School, Grens Prep and Primary School, Beaconhurst Prep and Primary School, George Randall High School, Kwelera and Champions Development (which included Arcadia Primary School and Amasanga Career School).

The clinic was finished off with the boys singing Shozoloza, ably led by Dan and Sandi, after which everyone got a hot-dog (sponsored by Impala Meats and Spargs SuperSpar) and Powerade (sponsored by Powerade).

Many phone calls have been received from the schools and parents thanking you guys for the time and effort and inquiring about the involvement of the BRL in the future - we need to keep the ball rolling!!

With over 240 boys attending and a great turn out of 26 ex-Border Players to coach them, which was great fun

The day was finished off with a get together in the Old Boys club house where John did a presentation on the structures, operation and work of SARLA. After the formalities all enjoyed a meal and then watched the NZ vs France RWC game.

A good time was had by all and thanks to John, Susan, Gail and Kim with a special thank you to Ian Mac, for the way he conducts these clinics and gets the boys going.

Let's keep up the good work.
