Jake White Wine Launch

Surrounded by a sea of green and gold jerseys, Jake White launched his select Red Wine at the Havana Grill and Wine Bar at Suncoast Casino on 23 August.

The Wildekrans Jake White Selection 2007 Cape Red is a masterful hand selected blend of 50% Pinotage, 25% Shiraz and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon.

There has been 2007 bottles produced and each one has been numbered and personally signed by Jake White himself. The bottles range from a 1,5litres; 3 litres and a 5 litre bottle. Only two 5 litre bottles have been made with the first bottle being snapped up in Cape Town - the year commemorates the Springbok World Cup Victory.

"It is interesting to see how many people have been buying the wine, but buying a specific date, the year of their birth or anniversary." stated White. Continuing, he said "These are collector's items and the wine maker, William Wilkinson, claims that you will be able to enjoy it for the next Springbok World Cup victory," with an evil grin, "which might of course mean that it will last for another 35 years!!"

"What is also great is that South Africa is a force to be reckoned with in both rugby and in wine and last year we won the World Cup in France, which is another great wine making country."

White proudly has been a part of the brewing of this magnificent blend and tasted it when they were fusing it together with the three reds. "I am not a wine connoisseur but I learnt a great deal on wines and the blending of them when William and Neils Verburg carefully crafted the limited edition."

"Wildekrans is renowned for its Pinotage," wine maker William Wilkinson said, "and it is wonderful that Jake has come on board to help broaden our brand. Wildekrans is more of a bouquet winemaker but it has been a privilege to be part of this venture and a wonderful challenge to have created this blend." With a simple closing, Wilkinson softly said, "Enjoy our wines!"

A percentage of the profits made will be given to the South African Rugby Legends Association for all of the great social developments that they are actively involved in including Street Kids Crime Prevention, Iqhawe, Adopt – A – School and the recently launched Leaving a Legacy.

Jake White will launch his wine in Johannesburg this week as part of the nationwide launch of his completely enjoyable wine.
