Mr Price Kearsney College Fun Day
The 78th annual 'clash' between the eLan Rugby Legends and the Kearsney 1st team takes place in the picturesque autumnal setting of Kearsney College on 8 June. The game that takes place between the eLan Rugby Legends and the first team players is being played as part of the Mr Price Kearsney College Fun Day and it is the second time the "Old Crocs" game has been incorporated into the festival. Experience versus eagerness, in this case the young taking on the old, is true in the annual game of the "Old Crocs" versus the upcoming stars of Kearsney College. Last year the Kearsney First Team had the privilege of playing against Springbok Legends such as Dick Muir, John Allan, John Slade, Deon Kayser, Adrian Garvey, and Pieter Muller in a 15-man game. The eLan Rugby Legends proved to be too strong last year with a compelling victory for the Old Crocs. The Mr Price Kearsney College Fun Day has a variety of categories that are on offer which appeals to everyone who knows how to run with an oval shaped ball. The categories are High School; Senior Primary; Senior House; Junior House; Companies Tag Rugby; Ladies / Girls and Old Boys. The Corporate Tag Rugby Challenge will be played in the morning with the winning team being honoured by getting a run against the eLan Rugby Legends as part of their warm up for the "Old Crocs" game. Kearsney College has a proud rugby heritage - be it touch or the 15-man version of the game. They have recently returned from a successful tour to New Zealand. They played four games and walked away with two victories. The day will not only be about fun and running around, funds will be raised on the day for a former rugby player, Vic Delport. Delport is a 52 year old quadriplegic that sustained a C4 full spinal cord injury during a rugby match in 1991, only six weeks after his wedding day. Based in Vryheid, he is the owner of a local gym and also helps organise the Demonia Cycle race recognised on the annual cycling calendar. Recently returned eLan Rugby Legend, Pieter Muller commented, "It is good to be back home and playing again, the lads have been joking about if I still owned a pair of rugby boots. It should be fun to stretch my legs in what is promised to be a carnival atmosphere and getting together for a good cause." Getting involved in all levels of the game, the South African Rugby Legends Association strives to expand the amateur game of rugby at the Mr Price Kearsney College Fun Day on 8 June. The Tag Competition will be held at the lunch break with a maximum of eight teams. Prizes will be awarded to the winner and runners up. MR PRICE KEARSNEY RUGBY TOURNAMENT ENTRY FORM
