The 4th Annual SA Rugby Legends Golf Day was held at the Boschenmeer Golf Estate in Paarl and with some 40 former Springbok and Provincial players participating, including five former Bok Captains in Dawie de Villiers, Tiaan Strauss, Divan Serfontein, Andre Vos and Corne Krige. The day was undoubtedly the most successful to date.

Among the strong line up of former International’s were the effervescent Toks van der Linde, the ever popular Rob Louw, Marius Hurter, wine farmer extraordinaire Schalk Burger Snr, Dawie Snyman, Roy McCullam and Breyton Paulse amongst others. With each Springbok hosting a four ball, the 144 players in the field had a superb day.

The Western Cape Chapter of SARLA have to be complemented on an exceptionally well run and enjoyable day of golf and also a huge thank you must go our major sponsors BMW, 1 Time Airways, Hi-Fi Corporation, Budget Car Hire and Southern Sun.

The prizes were presented by Ian McIntosh and with Wickus van de Merwe no doubt taking over from his late father legendary Afrikaans comedian Tolla van de Merwe an entertaining close to the successful day finished on a high note.

For the record First place went to former Western Province player Leon van den Heever’s four ball, which included Brian Lowry, Liether Bakkes and Stoffel van Zyl. Second place went to Irvan Arendse, Mark Witten, Nathan Arendse and former Bok flyhalf Robbie Blair while the Hooters team of Reed Hoffman, Nicholas Silvertsen, Gavin Julyan and former Blue Bull Andries Human finished in third place.
