David von Hoesslin is a former Springbok and Sharks scrumhalf. David was born on the 10th of May 1975 in Stellenbosch, Western Cape, South Africa. He attended Diocesan College (Bishops), Stellenbosch University. He weighs 85kg's and is 1.72m tall.

David has played most of his professional Rugby for Natal Sharks (59Caps) although he had a season on loan to the Stormers and has also played for the Griquas and the Lions. He has played both Currie Cup and Super 14 games for the Sharks and was part of Nick Mallet's South Africa team in 1999 when he played five games (Italy twice, Wales, New Zealand and Australia) alongside ex Quins' captain Andre Vos.

He has played for South Africa, South Africa A, SA Students, and for SA Schools. He was capped 5 times for the Springboks and has scored two tries. His Debut for the Springboks was against Italy in 1999.

He has also played for Cleremont Ferrand in France and had a season for Harlequins in London as well.
