Japie Mulder (Jacobus Cornelius Mulder) was born on Saturday the 18th of October 1969 in Springs, South Africa. He is 1,80m in height and weighed 95kg.

He attended the Hugenote High School in Springs and played for RAU Rugby Club and played for the Transvaal U20 in 1989. His Debut was in 1991 with 101 Caps.

In 1993 he played for the SA Barbarians.

He was a former Springbok player from 1994 to 2001. His International Debut was on Saturday, 23rd July 1994 v New Zealand in Wellington. The Springboks lost 13-9 and he was only 24 years of age.

His final appearance was on the 30 July 2001 v Italy in Port Elizabeth. The Springboks won 60-14.

Japie was part of the 1995 squad that won the Rugby World Cup.

He has a total of 34 caps and he played centre.
