The SA Rugby Legends team once more participated in the annual takealot.com CAPE TOWN 10s, this popular sports and social event at Hamilton’s Rugby Club in Cape Town.

Taking place over two days, the event has grown to such an extent that the veterans team has become a well-supported and popular attraction.

Our SA Legends did us proud on day 1 with a clean sweep against the teams they were drawn to play against:

vs Nor Folk ‘N Chance – 40 -7
vs Hammies Dynamiters – 26 – 24
vs Lions Golden Oldies – 15 – 7

On the final day, our lads put up a good performance in the quarter finals against Pale Toe winning that encounter 12 – 5. They faced Old Ice in the semis and the “Old” guys put up a good fight with the SA Legends managing to get through 19 – 12.

In what has now become a standing tradition at the 10s, the SA Legends squared up against the International Legends team that featured the likes of former England internationals Josh Lewsey and Chris Sheasby. The Internationals got the better of the South Africans, winning 31 – 7.

But, as is always the case with Legends games, the result is not the major highlight, rather it is is the fun, fellowship and friendship amongst old teammates and former opposition.

Thanks to our SA Rugby legends team who gave of their time (and their bodies) to play this year.
