SA Rugby Legends Clinic at Morgan Bay Rugby Club

A small, but enthusiastic group of young rugby players from the Eastern Cape region benefitted from 90 minutes of a rugby skills and drills clinic held by the SA Rugby Legends at the Morgan Bay Rugby Club on Saturday 4th March 2017.

Led by Lions and Border rugby legend Reinhard Gerber, with assistance from former Springbok hooker Delarey du Preez, Blitz Bok Dale Heidtmann, former SA Academy 7’s player Shane Spring, as well as twin brothers Ruan and Niell Jacobs, who are both Border U17A coaches.

“The focus at this clinic was on structure, attacking skills, set pieces and defence”, said Reinhard.

“The boys worked hard in the 90 minutes. The kids were enthusiastic and keen to learn more, they responded very well”, he said.

Gerber spotted at least 3 young players who have the talent to progress to higher levels of rugby.

“I hope that they work on what we have taught them, build on it and continue to grow. For some of these youngsters there is definite potential to move up to club rugby structures and feature there”, he said.

A big thank you to our Legends for giving of their time on a Saturday morning to travel the 80km journey to Morgan Bay, and to help inspire and motivate our young up and coming rugby players.
