The South African Rugby Legends Association (SARLA) will be bringing both history and fun to Ballito on Saturday, 9 March at Sugar Rush Park where they will take on the Ballito Dolphins Rugby Club Madalas Team.
The Ballito Dolphins are extending an invitation to their club rugby launch, which promises to be a highlight on the local rugby calendar. Guaranteed to be a fun-filled day of rugby, the activities begin at 1pm with a kids rugby clinic followed by a curtain raiser with the Dolphins main squad playing off against Varsity College.
With the promise of loads of food and festivities, provided by Ballito’s finest, the Sharks will then take on the Bulls, which will be shown on the big screens for all to cheer. The Tequila Twins will be entertaining the crowd too so there’s lots to look forward to.
The headline game will see the up-and-coming Ballito Dolphins launch their first league strike against Varsity College. The season is just beginning and both teams are gunning for the top spot, so this is sure to be a thrilling match.
The Legends team, made up of Natal based players and coached by SARLA CEO, Stefan Terblanche, will hit the field at 3.30pm, to take on the Ballito Dolphins Rugby Club’s Madalas team, all of whom are former Ballito Dolphins players. Familiar legendary faces on SARLA’s team will include the likes of Wayne Munn, Neil Cole, Shawn van Rensburg, Lungani Kama, Sacha Marot and Abonga Nkwelo.
Stefan Terblanche, CEO of SARLA, said “This day epitomises the great work our rugby legends continue to do in supporting both the growth and the transformation of rugby across our beautiful country.” adding that “The team is so excited to spot up and coming talent during the clinic and entertain the crowd with the match against the Madalas!”
