Some of our most-respected and loved South African Rugby Legends will be participating once more in South Africa’s oldest ‘classic’ cycling race, the 2018 edition of the Tsogo Sun Amashova Durban Classic. Starting in 1986, this famous 106 km event takes place on the gruelling Comrades Marathon route and was the dream of veteran Springbok cy-clist Dave Wiseman. Reputed to be the safest but toughest cycle race, the 2018 Tsogo Sun Amashova Durban Classic offers different length options; 106 km, 65 km and 35 km, thus catering for different physical abilities and has seen a steady increase in entries and sponsorship year on year by some of South Africa’s top organisations.
Starting in Pietermaritzburg and ending at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium, this is the fifth year that long standing SARLA Sponsor Tsogo Sun has sponsored the participation of some of our greatest rugby legends. Participation in the 106 km event includes Henry Coxwell, Dick Muir, Greg Miller, Breyton Paulse, John Smit, John Slade and Adrian Gar-vey. Garvey’s father, Brian Garvey, will join his son in the race too. The 65 km event will see John Allan taking up the challenge whilst Stefan Terblanche and his son Matthew Terblanche, plus Warren Brosnihan and daughter Jaz Brosnihan, will participate in the 35 km version of the iconic race event. What a line-up!
