South African Rugby Legends (SARLA) are pleased to announce the continuation and strengthening of their relationship between Oldenburg Vineyards and their VUKA Rugby Development Programme.
The relationship between SARLA and Oldenburg Vineyards is a unique one, founded to support and assist with the VUKA programme, and thus the growth and development of young South African athletic talent from disadvantaged areas into structured rugby leagues. With a specific focus on the U15-U19 age group, Oldenburg Vineyard’s latest campaign has a new focus, that of ‘Kits for Kids.’
The VUKA programme, in conjunction with the support of Oldenburg Vineyards, is committed to the promotion of the positive values that sport offers the youth, facilitating the importance of team work, persistence and dedication. Further, it creates a pool of talented players and ensures they have a chance of a brighter future. The VUKA pro-gramme is currently played in 11 of the 14 rugby playing provinces and witnessed the participation of 15 000 boys and girls in 2017. This year, 2018, all 14 provinces will play VUKA rugby and the number of players is set to grow substantially.
SARLA and Oldenburg Vineyard’s goal is to place 10 teams into the VUKA programme across South Africa. To achieve this goal your support is required, providing you with the amazing opportunity to invest in South African rugby and wine culture.
A limited amount of Unique cases have been created, each containing 12 beautiful bottles, one of which will be signed by a South African Rugby Legend. Each case con-tains two bottles each of the Oldenburg Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and the Rhodium Bordeaux blend. This limited opportunity is per-fect for the wine connoisseur who will be gratified knowing that their purchase has helped benefit the lives of our SA youth and growing our future rugby talent.
With every R8000 raised through the Kits for Kids campaign, a 25-person youth devel-opment team will be equipped with Rugby shirts, socks and shorts, and the team with balls, a bag carrier and training cones. In addition, the funds will be used to aid the coaches in their team training and for the transport required for game attendance.
Stefan Terblanche, SARLA CEO, expressed his delight, saying “SARLA is passionate about the development of our future potential rugby stars and a campaign such as ‘Kits for Kids’ confirms our belief in our commitment to change lives.” Terblanche went on to state that “When local businesses like Oldenburg Vineyards share our passion for rug-by, and thus for our youth, then we are assured that we are achieving our goals. Our beautiful country is known for its wine and rugby, it’s thus the perfect partnership and celebration of South Africa.”
