The Winterton Country Club will once more play host to the annual Drakensberg Rugby Legends clash against the Natal Rugby Legends on Saturday September 16 at 14.30pm.
The annual match has become a highlight on the Drakensberg rugby club’s calendar with the Natal Legends descending on the town for a day of rugby and fun.
The Natal Legends team will again be coached by the legendary Ian McIntosh who has selected a team that includes Pocket Rocket Brent Russell along with fellow Bok teammates Justin Swart and Stefan Terblanche. Former Sharks legends include Brad McLeod-Henderson, Dieter Kriese (SA 7’s), Dirkie Strydom (SA 7’s), Lungani Kama, Hentie Martens, Nico Breedt, Pieter Dixon and Skipper Badenhorst.
Travelling from up north to join in the fun will be former Lions stalwart and former SA 7’s Captain Jonathan Mokeuna. Also featuring this year are former England International Mike Horak, and 54 Test veteran of Italy Carlo del Fava.
There is a feast of rugby on the whole day, with schools rugby beginning at 09h00, followed at 11h30 with the Legends hosting a coaching clinic for young players. At 13h00 the Drakensberg Rugby Club 1st XV face the Harrismith Rugby Club before the Legends take to the field at 14h30.
