Following the announcement of President Cyril Ramaphosa declaring a state of disaster and schools being closed from Wednesday and all sporting events being suspended across South Africa and the world, the South African Rugby Legends Association has followed suit in suspending all Vuka rugby activities. We have made the decision in the interests of public health but, equally, the health and safety of players, match officials, and staff across the game. This is of paramount importance as the country enters the ‘delay’ phase of the coronavirus pandemic.
The situation is fluid and we will continuously be in contact with all stakeholders and the unions directly. We will assess the situation following the Easter holiday and would therefore request the unions to plan accordingly and put the necessary plans in place in the event national government provide us with further directives on the current situation.
