The SA Rugby Legends J9 jersey is SARLA’s official jersey worn by the scrumhalf when playing for the SA Rugby Legends.

It was first played in in March 2017 by former Springbok and Sharks scrum half Dave von Hoesslin, after being unveiled at the late Joost van der Westhuizen’s provincial funeral service in February 2017.

SARLA retired their regular 9 jersey and has replaced it with the J9 jersey in honour of the legendary Joost, who’s flair and skill as a scrumhalf made him one of the all-time greats in this position.

It is also proudly worn in recognition of his brave fight against MND, which ultimately took his life, and the incredible work he achieved creating awareness in furthering research into finding a cure for this debilitating disease and offering assistance to those afflicted.

He established the J9 Foundation and travelled the world sharing his story and searching for a cure.

The J9 jersey is our tribute to an extraordinary man.

Proceeds from the sale of the jersey will go towards the J9 Foundation.
